Polished pebble, oval or round in shape, 4 to 7 cm, flattened to fit in the hand or pocket: the flat pebble is the ultimate "pocket stone", the one kept on a desk, in a bag or under a pillow. Larger than the tumbled stone, less bulky than the polished block, it is sold alone, in a gift box or engraved with a symbol. Choosing your pieces

A flat pebble is judged on the regularity of its shape, its polish (free of scratches or chips) and the beauty of the stone, as the flat surface highlights the veining and inclusions. Pieces are photographed by batch; rare stones and larger sizes are photographed individually.

What works in-store

Loose in a basket with a label per gemstone, like tumbled stones, or in a gift box with its properties card. Tumbled pebbles offer a thicker shape, rough stones the unpolished version; stone displays are used to showcase them.
