Labradorite, the stone that makes the window display

A grey feldspar at rest, labradorite bursts into blue, green or gold as soon as it's tilted: this labradorescence makes it a showcase piece that stops passers-by and a stone with strong perceived value. Tradition holds it as the stone of therapists and public-facing professions, a shield against absorbed energies, and a stone of intuition (third eye and throat chakra).

Judging quality

Three criteria: the surface that lights up, the intensity of the reflection and the palette (blue is common, green and gold more sought-after, purple rare). A polished block must be cut along the plane of the flash, otherwise it stays grey. Arabesk selects its pieces in Madagascar, the market's main source. Related stones worth knowing to answer customers: moonstone (same family, white-blue sheen) and larvikite (Norway's "black labradorite").

Selling it: it's all about lighting

A warm LED spotlight angled at 45° multiplies the flashes; without directed light, labradorite goes unnoticed. The free-form polished block is the centerpiece, the flat pebble and the tumbled stone are the entry-level formats, the pendant and the 925 silver ring the gift formats. Hardness 6 and marked cleavage: no salt, brief rinsing only. Discover all our natural stones.
