The Sacred Wood of South America
Palo santo (Bursera graveolens) is an aromatic wood from Peru and Ecuador, used for centuries by shamans to purify and soothe. Burned as a stick, it releases a soft smoke with woody, citrusy and slightly sweet notes, far more subtle than that of white sage. Arabesk offers palo santo sticks in 50 g, 100 g and 250 g bags, chips for the incense burner, cones and incense sticks scented with palo santo, and gift sets with a shell.
Choosing Your Quality
Good palo santo is dense, oily to the touch and strongly scented even when cold: only wood from naturally fallen trees, rested for several years, develops its aromas; our sticks come from this regulated harvest, with no felling involved. Beware of pale, scentless sticks. The 10 cm stick is the standard selling format; chips are the solution for customers who don't want to light a stick.
What Works in Store
Palo santo sells well in sets of three or in gift boxes with an abalone shell and a stand. Display it alongside white sage, resin incense and charcoal discs in a "purification" area, and remind customers that it's also used to cleanse crystals.
