Moonstone, the glow that glides beneath the surface
A feldspar with a characteristic adularescence — that bluish or white sheen which seems to float beneath the surface when the stone is tilted — moonstone comes in white, peach (orange moonstone) and rainbow varieties. Crystal healing tradition makes it the stone of femininity, intuition and cycles; it is highly sought after by female customers. Hardness 6 to 6.5: it withstands daily wear but is vulnerable to knocks on its edges.
Choosing your quality
Everything depends on the adularescence: the sharper, more mobile and more bluish the sheen, the higher the quality (AA). A milky white stone with a subtle sheen is graded A, perfect for tumbled stones and entry-level bracelets.
