When light strikes the surface of labradorite, it can display a range of shimmering colors, including blue, green, yellow, violet and orange. This creates a captivating visual effect and makes it a popular gemstone for jewelry design. In addition to its beauty, labradorite is often associated with metaphysical beliefs and properties. The Stone with Blue and Gold Flashes

Grey at rest, labradorite bursts into blue, green, gold or violet as soon as it's tilted: this is labradorescence, an internal play of light that makes it the most spectacular of polished blocks. Cut into free forms with flat bases, flat pebbles, spheres, hearts or points, it makes a stunning display piece. Arabesk offers around fifteen references, from the small 5 cm free form to blocks weighing several kilos, each piece individually photographed.

Choosing Your Pieces

The value of a labradorite lies in the extent and intensity of its flashes: a polished face fully iridescent is worth far more than a grey block with rare flashes. Check the cutting orientation (the polisher must have followed the plane of the flashes), the polish and the stability. Our photos are taken under raking light to show the true flash of each piece.

What Works in Store

A labradorite sells by moving it in the customer's hand: place it within reach, under directed lighting. It pairs well with serpentine, blue calcite and septarian from the polished stone blocks section; in jewelry, the silver free-form pendants in labradorite extend the sale.
