Fragments of stone left raw, unpolished, drilled and strung on a thread: raw stone strands bring jewelry a mineral, matte and irregular texture, highly sought after in "natural" and bohemian creations. Choosing your strands

A raw stone strand is judged by the relative consistency in fragment size (similar in size without being identical) and the strength of the drilling, which is trickier on an unpolished stone. The most requested stones: amethyst, clear quartz, rose quartz, citrine, aquamarine, peridot, garnet, black tourmaline.

What works in the workshop

Mount them on coated wire with a clasp rather than elastic, as raw stones wear down stretch cords. Pair them with chip strands and tumbled stone strands for varied textures, and with 6mm round bead strands for contrast. Raw stone pendants appeal to the same taste for shops that don't do beading.
