Sodalite, the deep blue veined with white

A sodium-rich silicate ranging from royal blue to midnight blue, veined with white calcite, sodalite is often mistaken for lapis lazuli; it is distinguished by the absence of golden pyrite and a more purplish blue. Lithotherapy tradition makes it the stone of logic, mental clarity and self-confidence (third eye chakra), favored by students and for the office. Hardness 5.5 to 6: it withstands daily wear provided impacts and prolonged water exposure are avoided.

Choosing your quality

A sodalite is judged by the depth of its blue and the proportion of white: an intense blue with little veining signals AA quality, while a lighter, heavily marbled blue is A quality, ideal for bulk sales. Brazil, Namibia, Bolivia and Canada are the reference deposits; Arabesk sources mainly from Brazil and sorts bead batches by blue intensity.

What sells in store

The tumbled stone for the concentration basket, the sphere and the rough stone for decoration, the 8mm beaded bracelet and the pendant. It is the economical alternative to lapis lazuli and displays well alongside it, azurite and fluorite in a "working stones" section.
