Agate, an entire family of stones

Banded chalcedony with concentric stripes, agate is less a single stone than a whole family: moss agate with green inclusions, Botswana agate with fine grey and pink bands, tree agate, cherry blossom agate, Indian agate, Bahia agate or white agate. In crystal healing tradition it is seen as a stone of grounding, stability and luck, differing by variety. Hardness 6.5 to 7: durable, it suits all uses.

Choosing your quality

An agate is judged by the sharpness of its bands and the translucency of the chalcedony; dyed pieces (blue, purple, bright pink) must be labeled as such. Arabesk states the variety and origin (Brazil, Botswana, India, Madagascar) on each reference and sorts bead batches for consistent bracelets.
