Unakite, green and pink in a single stone
A weathered granite blending pistachio-green epidote, salmon-pink feldspar and translucent quartz, unakite takes its name from the Unaka Mountains, on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. Its mottled two-tone pattern is unique on the shelf. Crystal healing tradition regards it as the stone of emotional balance, patience and recovery, linked to the heart chakra. Hardness 6 to 7: it withstands water and daily wear.
Choosing your quality
An unakite is judged by the contrast between the green and the pink and by the regularity of the mottling: clear, evenly distributed spots indicate AA quality, while a more blended mix indicates A quality, perfectly suitable in bulk. The United States remains the benchmark source, with South Africa and China supplying most of the beads. Arabesk sorts bead batches so that bracelets keep a balanced distribution of both colours.
