Clear quartz, the backbone of the shelf
A pure, transparent quartz, clear quartz is the reference stone of all crystal healing: the one recommended when in doubt, the one that "amplifies" other stones, and the one found in the widest range of shapes. Tradition makes it the stone of clarity and purification; quartz is also piezoelectric, a property used in watches — a fact your customers love to hear.
Quality, varieties and fakes
A superior quality is as clear "as water"; a common quality is translucent with a milky base, which is natural. Inclusions are varieties to be valued: rutilated quartz (golden needles), chlorite quartz, tourmalinated quartz, phantom quartz, and smoky quartz. The most common fake is glass: round bubbles, lighter weight, warms up quickly in the hand. Quartz stays cool and never has spherical bubbles.
