Amazonite, the soothing sea-green stone
A green to blue-green feldspar streaked with white, amazonite owes its name to the Amazon River, although its main deposits today are found in Brazil, Russia and Madagascar. Crystal healing tradition regards it as a stone of calm, balance and gentle communication; it appeals to customers looking for a softer alternative to turquoise. With a hardness of 6 to 6.5, it holds up well to daily wear.
Choosing your quality
Quality is judged by the intensity of the green and the regularity of the white streaks: a clear blue-green with few veins signals AA quality, while a paler, more marbled green indicates A quality.
